Loudoun Water has an opening for a Plant Engineer within Water Operations at the Trap Rock Water Treatment Facility. Loudoun Water is open to considering applicants at either the Engineer or Senior Engineer level. See the requirements section below for the experience and education needed for the two different levels.
This position will be responsible for process operations and engineering support for Loudoun Water’s Trap Rock Water Treatment Facility, including various intakes, reservoirs, and dams. Experience with the design and operation of water treatment facilities is preferred. Essential functions include:
Provide technical assistance to the Operations & Maintenance Division on topics related to drinking water, including water treatment operations, untreated source water operations, dams, reservoirs, maintenance, process control, regulatory and other related technical areas.
Develop engineering solutions to meet designated criteria needed to effectively and efficiently operate sources and successfully treat drinking water.
Analyze and maintain data in PowerBI and SCADA. Participate in the development of trends, dashboards, and control algorithms to enhance operations.
Fully utilize WIMS software for data management and manipulation. Support further expansion of the WIMS software as well as participate in the building and deployment of any future software needed by the department.
Evaluate regulatory issues affecting facilities.
Prepare and execute desktop analyses, bench and pilot scale testing plans, plan reviews, startup and commissioning plans.
Prepare, review, and approve necessary reports, studies, and correspondence related to projects.
Provide complex design support and regulatory interpretations in light of technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
Coordinate with Engineering and Construction staff during facility and process start-ups. Assist in troubleshooting and tuning process control systems including instrumentation and control programs

Requirements
Senior Plant Engineer Requirements:
BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field and ten (10) years or more of progressively responsible experience in operations and evaluations of drinking water treatment facilities is required. An advanced degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering may be applied towards experience. Eligibility for or licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
Plant Engineer Requirements:
BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field is required. An advanced degree in Chemistry, Biology or related engineering field is preferred. Eligibility for or licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
